The Goldpool Arena Scam

The Goldpool Arena Scam

During the month of June, Kabam celebrated Deadpool on Marvel Contest of Champions. Along with releasing Domino and Masacre to the contest, we also saw the introduction to an exclusive character, Goldpool. Obtaining Goldpool wasnt easy, Summoners we expected to place in the top 200 on a pay-to-play Deadpool arena or win a rare ticket to gain access to the arena by purchasing Pool's Gold crystals (a pun on Fool's gold? Well done Kabam). But the Goldpool arena turned out to be far from what it was advertised to be

On June 4th, a forum moderator (Kabam Miike) posted that the Goldpool arena will be paying out big, with rewards such as 5-star and 6-star shards, along with a rare title. While only 200 summoners got to walk away with the exclusive 5-Star Goldpool, the rest would have to be content with the 5-Star and 6-Star shards that were promised.

Several Summoners would participate tirelessly in the 6 consecutive Deadpool arenas, while others spent money chasing for an opportunity at the Goldpool arena and the shards that were promised.

When the Goldpool arena finally arrived, Summoners were met with utter disappointment... Kabam's promise for shards turned out to false advertising... This arena isnt a regular free to play arena, it was an exclusive pay-to-play arena, which offered lesser rewards than the regular weekly arenas

Kabam has continued a trend of increasing the content on their game, expecting players to invest countless hours and dollars to progress, while being extremely stingy with their reward system.

This Goldpool arena is a prime example of the deceit from the developers to the community, and it has to stop

Message to Kabam

Quit mistreating your player-base. You promised better communication when the 12.0 Boycott happened, yet you returned to your deceptive marketing within a month. Treat all your customers equally, don't treat one less than the other based on their spending habits. Have pride in the Marvel brand you are representing.

Message to Marvel

You are advertising Marvel Contest of Champions as one of your flagship games. Pay attention to how the developers are treating their customers. Make sure the Marvel brand is not being dragged through the dirt, in order to squeeze a few extra cents out of your customers
